EPAD Agro
There is a huge biogas potential in untapped agricultural side streams and biomasses globally. Solely in Finland 4 TWh of energy could be produced from agricultural waste streams. Energy potential is even higher if energy crops like grass silage are taken into account. Biogas production from agricultural biomasses is particularly important for nutrient recycling. When properly planned and executed it is possible to deminish nutrient release to environment and exploiting non-renewable resources.
EcoProtech’s EPAD Agro biogas plant solutions are excellent choice for agricultural biogas production. Traditional high loaded EPAD-procss is cost effective solution for centralised utilisation of manure and biomasses. Due to high solid concentration the EPAD process is often suited as such for feed mixture of liquid manure, stallage and silage.
EPAD process does not require separate hydrolysis tank and the size of the bioreactor is remarkably smaller than in traditional agricultural bioreactors. Our process can be run in thermophilic mode, so there is no need for separate hygienisation process either. EPAD-process can be extended with digestate and reject water post treatment steps. For example membrane concentration unit or chemical scrubber can be introduced to the process for the production of nitroge n based nutrients.
EPAD-technology has been developed to last harsh and corrosive environments. Thanks to the cone-shaped reactor bottom structure – there is no need to empty the reactor for maintenance during the course of the operation. The process is continuous and can be run without maintenance breaks.
For farm scale applications, we have developed a compact and modularly scalable biogas unit. Due to low investment cost and easy scalability, it is a viable option for individual farms to start biogas production and scale up gradually as the volume of raw material base is growing.
